We began our work with traditional charitable activities aimed at providing basic necessities to those in need. However, as we grew and gained more experience, we recognized the importance of taking a more holistic approach to addressing the challenges faced by underserved communities. We began to focus on sustainable and long-term solutions that empower individuals and communities to lift themselves out of poverty. By combining traditional charitable activities with more developmental approaches, we challenged the perspective that charitable activities are just “a drop in the ocean.” Instead, we aim to make a lasting impact and create positive change that will benefit generations to come.Alsohba organization targets the most needy underprivileged areas in Egypt, covering communities in East Egypt, including Cairo, Al Arish, and Al Ismailia, as well as Upper Egypt, including Aswan, Luxor, Qena, Sohag, Asyut, Menya, and Beni Suef We ensure to reach those in remote areas within these cities, often collaborating with local NGOs
Alsohba is committed to serving the community and making a positive impact in people’s lives. Our charitable initiatives are focused on providing basic necessities to those in need, particularly during the holy month of Ramadan. We distribute food packages and organize Eid clothes and cookies distribution drives to bring joy and happiness to children in underserved areas. In addition, we conduct medical convoys to remote villages in Upper Egypt, where people have limited access to healthcare services. We are also proud to partner with two other NGOs to operate a free clinic in Komombo, Upper Egypt. The clinic provides medical care to those who cannot afford it, and serves as a lifeline for the local community. During the winter months, we also distribute blankets to those in need, including to remote villages in Sinai. These efforts have improved the lives of countless individuals and families, and we’re proud to continue this work with the support of our dedicated volunteers and donors.
We believe that every child deserves access to quality education and opportunities to succeed. That’s why we’ve invested in creating and developing innovative developmental programs for children in public schools. Our programs aim to provide children with hands-on learning experiences through excursions and educational trips. We also invest in placing them in courses on how to use laptops, Microsoft Office applications, and conduct research. Through our NGO curriculum, we also teach English as a second language to children, as we recognize that this skill can open up employability options for them in the future. Our programs are inclusive, and we strive to provide equal opportunities to children of all backgrounds, including those with hearing impairments. We firmly believe that investing in the education and development of children today is an investment in a brighter future for all. The seed of development that we plant today will continue to grow and flourish long into the future, as these children become the future leaders and shape the world to come.
We believe in the power of communities to drive their own development and create sustainable change. That’s why we are investing in studying and implementing Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) approaches. Unlike traditional aid models that focus on identifying and addressing a community’s problems, ABCD focuses on identifying and mobilizing a community’s strengths and assets to build a better future. We are working to ensure that our recipients understand how to invest and earn a return on these assets, which in turn can help to drive local economic growth and improve livelihoods. By adopting this approach, we are empowering communities to take charge of their own development and create a brighter future for themselves and their families. We are committed to continuing to invest in ABCD and other innovative approaches that promote sustainable change and build resilient communities.
